What are your responsibilities at Tech?
I oversee and assist with research compliance on sponsored projects, manage the school’s budget, and serve as the point of contact for campus concerning all financial matters in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Why do you like working at Tech?
I like working where education and cutting edge research, in so many different areas, occur. I also like working in such a diverse community. I get to meet people from all over the world.
What is it like working in a college setting?
Working in a college setting enables me to interact with people that are not only from different parts of the world, but different walks of life. In a single day, I will interact with people who are just starting on their degree, all the way to people that are entering retirement. I also like working in an environment where I get to work on the financial side of research. I feel that, by taking care of the financial side, I am enabling people to work on discoveries that will likely change the world.
What drives you to help make the Georgia Tech vision, "To define the technological research university of the 21st century," a reality?
The satisfaction of knowing I have helped the researchers/educators and the students.
What have been the highlights of your career at Georgia Tech?
Working with the Digital Signal Processing group in Electrical and Computer Engineering and the relationship I have with many of my colleagues, and enjoying Tech for over two decades.
